Pupil Premium Funding

The pupil premium grant is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England. It’s a school-level grant that gives schools extra resources to help them meet challenges, including those arising from deprivation.

It’s allocated for schools to:

  • improve the academic outcomes of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities
  • close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers across the country

You can find further information about the pupil premium in Pupil Premium Frequently Asked Questions (PDF, 174KB, 8 pages) .

What is Pupil Premium funding?

Schools receive pupil premium funding for every pupil that is currently in receipt of free school meals and for every pupil who has historically received free school meals (£1,320 per pupil).

Pupil premium funding is also allocated to children in care and children adopted from care (£1,900 per pupil) and children of services personnel (£300).

To find out if your child may be eligible for free school meals and therefore pupil premium please visit the North Yorkshire website or contact the school office.

How do we use our funding?

Our schools seek to ensure the effectiveness of its use of the Pupil Premium by using educational research such as the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF).  We are also part of the North Yorkshire ‘Achievement Unlocked’ strategy group to improve outcomes for pupils in receipt of pupil premium.

Over time, our Pupil Premium strategies have had a positive impact on:-

  • Participation in after school clubs, residential trips, school trips, sport and music
  • Ability to complete homework with support from school staff
  • Progress and outcomes for individual pupils
  • Raised self-esteem and parental involvement in learning for some individuals

Please take time to read our pupil premium strategy.

The pupil premium strategy for Fountains Earth is not published as there are 5 or fewer pupils. This protects the privacy of individuals in receipt of pupil premium.
