Supporting your child: home and school working together

We’re keen to work as closely as possible with you all the way through your child’s time at primary school and perhaps Reception class is the most important time to get this right. We ensure that Reception staff are available for you to speak to before and after school.

Learning happens at school and at home. We want to hear about any learning that happens at home. This might be a ‘WOW’ moment such as your child riding a bike without stabilisers or swimming without armbands. Equally, it could be a learning moment such as writing their name, retelling a story or counting their steps. You could fill in a Talking Together sheet (link below). As well as being a great way to celebrate your child’s development, it will help to ensure that staff have an even fuller picture of your child and their achievements.

We would also like you to share information about what your child enjoys or is interested in. The Reception team take on board the interests of the class to plan future activities around them. Again, you could fill in a Home School Learning Partnership sheet (link below).
